So with summer starting to make itself felt, there has never been a better time to prepare your property for the potential impact of a bushfire. Simple things such as regularly cleaning leaves and sticks from your gutters and roof, raking up leaves and other combustible debris from the ground around your home and sealing gaps in your house where embers could enter may make a big difference to whether your home is damaged or survives a fire. But preparation doesn't stop there. There are a wide range of things you can do, and considerations you can make, to better prepare yourself for the next bushfire that threatens. The Rural Fire Service website has a range of publications and other information available to help you prepare and protect your own property. Click here to be directed to the publications page. Downloading things from a website is one thing, but if you'd like some one-on-one, personalised advice we are more than happy to assist. See our Advice page for more information. 10 December 2008 Seasonal Outlook - Summer 2008Information from the Bureau of Meteorology suggests that the summer of 2008 is likely to bring average or slightly above average rainfall for southeast Australia, including the Blue Mountains region.
